Sunday Morning Worship

Sunday morning worship services at Sunnyside include singing hymns and contemporary worship songs, reading scriptures, prayers, an offering, a 20-25 minute sermon, and a time of sharing praises and prayer requests with our church family.  Our services usually last about 90 minutes.  We enjoy a blend of informality and simple liturgy in our worship.  In our worship, we integrate spaces both for contemplative silence as well as sharing testimonies or personal stories of how we are experiencing God at work in our lives.

Our time of worship begins at 9:30 a.m., with pre-service music starting at 9:20 a.m.

Christian formation or Sunday School for all ages follows the worship service (usually around 11:00 a.m.).

Fellowship Meals are typically held on the first Sunday of each month from October through May following Sunday School.

Greeters will greet you as arrive in the main entrance (look for the name tags) and can answer any questions you may have.

Coffee and Tea are available in the downstairs fellowship hall after the worship service.

Childcare is available for children age 2 and under in the nursery located off of the foyer when you arrive.

Children’s Church is held after the worship songs during the sermon time for children ages 3-8.

Accessibility: The upper entrance is wheelchair and walker accessible.

Dress:  Wear what feels comfortable for you.  The congregation at Sunnyside wears everything from casual to smart casual to a few wearing a jacket and tie or dress.

Sermons:  Our lead pastor, Joshua, preaches most Sundays, but some weeks others within the congregation preach because we believe it’s important to cultivate the gifts of all people. A few Sundays we have outside speakers who connect us with the wider church.

We have Sunday School for all ages!  Our Sunday School follows our 9:30 am worship service and lasts for 50 minutes.  Our preschool and elementary classes use Shine: Living in God’s Light an Anabaptist Sunday school curriculum that takes children through important themes and characters in the Bible in three years.  Our youth class uses a variety of resources.

Adult Sunday School for the Winter Quarter:

This quarter, our four age-based adult Sunday School classes are focusing on different topics. One class is sharing their life stories with one another, another class is discussing the morning worship service.  The other two adult classes use the International Lesson published by Menno Media.
